As the Tony-winning revival of Chicago celebrates its 15th anniversary, Broadway.com asked readers to vote for their favorite actress who has portrayed Roxie Hart during the show's run. The votes are in, and readers narrowed the list of more than 30 actresses to a top three that favored stage vets over Hollywood "names." Take a look at the results below.
1. Bianca Marroquin - 40%
Marroquin, a veteran of the Tony-winning musical In the Heights and The Pajama Game, first played Roxie in a Mexico City production of Chicago and was invited to join the Broadway company in 2002. Since her first engagement in the show, Marroquin returned to the production six times, most recently for a four-month run in December 2010.
2. Michelle DeJean - 13%
DeJean began her time in Chicago as a swing, later playing Mona before taking the spotlight as Roxie in 2007. The actress has played Roxie during four separate engagements and also on tour and in Japan.
3. Ann Reinking - 8%
Reinking first played Roxie in 1977 during Chicago's original Broadway run. She opened the current revival as Roxie in 1996 and earned a Tony Award for Best Choreography, re-interpreting the style of her mentor and former real-life love, Bob Fosse.
Thanks for voting, and happy anniversary, Chicago!
